Needed Supplies: Pen/Pencil, earbuds/headphones, school issued tablet/chrome book.

6th Grade Curriculum – World Music & Intro To Ukuleles:  6th Grade General music is a percussion based class that utilized World Music Drumming.  Students will learn drumming and percussion techniques while playing complex rhythms on a variety of World Percussion instruments.  Towards the end of the quarter students will receive a brief intro to Ukulele so they can make an informed decision for 7th and 8th grade electives.

7th and 8th Grade Discovering Ukuleles – The quarter will begin by covering basic notation, and history and basics of the instrument necessary to become successful players.  Later, students will learn songs led by Mrs. Zolmierski, as well as songs of their choosing.  They will play both chords, and melody, as well as explore the instrument creatively.  There will be many opportunities to collaborate with their peers as they develop musicianship and performing skills.  They will listen to and analyze ukulele music from a variety of genres and performers, and transfer their ideas to their own playing.
