Clubs are defined as after school activities open to interested students, regardless of ability.


ART CLUB

 

The Art Club is open to students who wish to work on an independent art or craft project in a non-competitive environment. The club will encourage  discovery, creativity and development of self-confidence. Help with individual projects will always be available! Meets one day a week, every other week, during the school year.


BLUE THUNDER

 

Do you like going to sporting events? Do you have school spirit? If so, Blue Thunder is just the club for you! As a member of Blue Thunder, you will help decorate student lockers and cheer for the Firebird teams as they take on the competition. Be a part of something special as we rock the house with Freddie the Firebird in support of our amazing teams! Blue Thunder welcomes all Friendship Junior High Students to take part in cheering on the home team.


Book Club

 

Friendship’s Book Club welcomes students of all reading levels and abilities. Book Club provides opportunities to discover the joy of reading, and the empowerment reading skills can provide in daily classroom life, and life outside of school. Book Club gives students the opportunity to interact with peers and adults, and also provides a platform for students to lead and take part in meaningful discussion. With such an exciting year ahead, Friendship’s Book Club is ready to encourage, support and introduce you to some of the best books on the planet!


CHESS CLUB

Learn the basics or simply improve your developing skills in Chess, the ultimate strategy game! Match your wits against other students. Chess Club meets on Thursdays every week during the second and third quarters.


COOL TOOL CREATORS

During this after school program, students will learn how to write scripts, direct, and produce. Cool Tool Videos will be used with our school’s PBIS program. This is an excellent opportunity for students to combine their creative talents in acting, writing, and technology. Students will explore the many uses of technology in our building and will be able to learn more about features of various programs that they use everyday. There will be time for students to share old skills and explore new ones. Students can also use this time to create and refine projects, research information, and work on some technology trouble shooting skills.


DANCE /BOARD GAME CLUB

 

Do you like to dance? Do you like to move? Do you like to groove? Or maybe you just like to play board games? If you do, then, you should join the Dance/Board Game Club. That’s right . . . Friendship’s very own Dance Revolution and Board Game Club is here! We have a fabulous selection of board games, which include, Blokus, Apples to Apples, Candy Land and many more. Come join us after school for some movin’ and groovin’!


DATA/HIGH FIVE CLUB

 

In the High Five Club, you will learn how to collect and display data using technology. You will be tracking the number of high fives given out at Friendship Jr. High School and will also be designing a bulletin board that will display this data, for the entire school to see! Come and be a part of the High Five Club, all students are welcome! This is a year-long club that will meet from September through May.


FRIENDSHIP FYI CLUB (School News)

This club will give students an opportunity to be part of creating, producing, and broadcasting our daily announcements. Students will be helping our staff and students communicate with each other about important events happening in our school, and around the community! Meets daily for students involved in the production.


LIFE SKILLS CLUB

 

Do you like to cook or want to learn? Life Skills Club gives Friendship students the opportunity to practice their cooking skills! Members learn how to prepare main dishes, healthy snacks, multi-cultural dishes, and desserts at meetings. Meets one day a week for two quarters during the school year.


PHOTO/YEARBOOK CLUB

 

This is open to students interested in helping with the organization and selling of the yearbook. Members will learn to work on theme, layout and photo selection! Meets before and after school periodically throughout the year.


PING PONG CLUB

 

Whether you are interested in learning how to play or just want to improve your game, come and check out the ping-pong club! Players of all abilities are welcome. We will teach basic skills to help newcomers become better players. Advanced skills will be presented to those who want to participate in club competitions. Meets on Thursdays every week during the second and third quarters.


ROBOTS & ROBOTICS CLUB

 

The Robots and Robotics club will teach students the core principles of STEM robotics education. Its primary members will be students who have not had the opportunity to take GTT (Gateway to Technology), but will be assisted by leading students who are in the GTT program. The club will begin with learning about the different types of gears and how to assemble them in VEX robotics kits.  This is hands-on technology in math, engineering and science! There are lots of books in the classroom, but here is an opportunity to put it all together first hand. It will include challenges based on principles the students have learned and competition amongst teams. It will even include meetings with area scientists and engineers! This club will teach fundamentals and get the students engaged with hands-on and fun activities. The purpose is to ignite that spark that shows the students they can be any type of engineer! The 16-week program will meet after school, one day a week beginning in November.


RUNNING CLUB

 

Running Club meets once a week to jog around Friendship Park. It is a low-key, noncompetitive club, so bring a friend and join us outside to enjoy the spring weather!


SCHOOL STORE

 

The School Store Club is open to all students who wish to become stockholders in the Friendship School Store! We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 – 8:20 AM, in the lunchroom. Each member signs up to work at least once a week for the whole school year. Students may purchase stock and dividends are paid at the end of January and May! Students will be in charge of purchasing, selling and taking inventory of supplies.


STAY AND PLAY

 

Students can participate in open gym activities, Ping Pong, Foose Ball, Computer Games, Board Games, Suduko, or Gockey. There are free refreshments for the students. It is a time to socialize with friends from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon after school. Meets: 4 times during the school year on Fridays.


WALKING CLUB

 

Students of all grades can come and walk for fun and fitness! We will be keeping track of how many miles the group walks. Meets once a week during a specified quarter.
