Student Behavior (PBIS)

Student Behavior (PBIS)

What is the policy on student behavior?

While incidents of serious misconduct are rare, it is still important that students be aware of school district policies regarding them.

Continued disregard for school rules may result in probationary status and loss of privileges. Students may find themselves excluded from activity nights, clubs, sports, class trips, and special events.

Disrespect of students or adults will not be tolerated. During the school day there is no reason for students to be in physical contact with each other. There will be consequences for students who engage in touching or physical contact. Fighting will often result in a suspension and a parent will be notified.

Students involved in any gang related activity or in possession of gang insignia, drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, or a controlled substance of any kind may be suspended from school pending a hearing to determine if expulsion should be recommended to the Board of Education. Gang related activity includes (but is not limited to) flashing gang signs, making verbal threats, displaying gang clothing, colors, or other identifiers.

Consistent with state laws, any student in possession of or using a weapon or “look alike” weapon while in school, on school district property, or at any school sponsored activity will be immediately reported to the appropriate law enforcement officials for possible investigation and action. A school suspension will be in effect pending a hearing with both school and district administrators.
