Students, Families Return to Ridge to Welcome New Year
One of the most anticipated dates on the district calendar is traditionally Family Day at the Ridge Family Center for Learning. Students bring their loved ones with them on the morning of the first day of school to visit with staff and set expectations for the coming year.
That tradition returned on Wednesday as CCSD59 saw its first day of student attendance for the 2021-22 school year. Students and families gathered behind the school to meet with new classmates, catch up with familiar friends, and greet their teachers. The morning saw a rotation of orientation meetings between families and staff as well as the opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with their classrooms and spend time on the playground.
“At Ridge, we look forward to partnering with our families to help each student grow academically, socially, and emotionally,” principal Samantha Stone told parents earlier this month. “‘Preparing students to be successful for life,” is our goal and our dedicated staff are ready for a wonderful year of learning.”
