PARCC TESTING
February 22, 2018
Dear Parents,
Beginning March 6th, Friendship Junior High students will take part in the PARCC mandatory annual state assessment. The PARCC test is aligned to the Common Core State Standards and aims to give educators, families and students a measure of how well students in Illinois are performing in English Language Arts, Math, and Science. The district testing window opens on March 5th and closes on April 6, 2018. Students in grades 6-8 will take three English Language Arts tests and three Mathematics tests. In addition, students in grade 8 will take an assessment in the area of Science. FJHS’s testing schedule is below:
English Language Arts | Math | Science |
Tuesday, March 6 | Thursday, March 8 | |
Friday, March 9 | Tuesday, March 13 | Thursday, March 22 |
Thursday, March 15 | Friday, March 16 |
Our testing block will occur in the morning and we will follow an alternate bell schedule on testing days. You can find our bell schedule on the website. Makeup testing will occur the week prior to and after spring break. We ask for your assistance and support with:
- encouraging students to get a good night’s sleep
- eating a healthy breakfast
- arriving to school on time
- avoiding absences during the testing window
Additionally, the PARCC online practice site has many useful resources including tutorials and short assessments in each subject area being assessed. To access these and other PARCC parent resources, please either visit the district website or access the resources directly at parcc-assessment.org/parent-resources/.
Sincerely,
Jodi J. Megerle
