CCSD59 Back-to-School Celebration Kicks Off a New School Year
This past weekend, students and their families joyfully participated in the annual tradition of starting the new school year with the CCSD59 Back to School Celebration. Sponsored by the D59 Education Foundation, the event was celebrated at Holmes Junior High School this year.
Local community partners, including park districts, PTOs, and many others, attended the event and interacted with families through games and crafts and passing out giveaways and prizes. Activities included an inflatable obstacle course, football tosses, and many other games and crafts.
Lunch was provided for everyone by Organic Life, CCSD59’s new food supplier, and included hot dogs, chips, fruit, and bottled water.
The shows were the highlight of the celebration. Mount Prospect Park District’s Impulse dance team performed a number of dance routines. Matt Wilhelm, ever the crowd favorite, put on two exciting BMX performances for the crowd. Students cheered loudly for free giveaways in addition to encouraging his awesome stunts, which included spins, jumps, and wheelies. Wilhelm continuously weaved positive messages into his performance between all the stunts.
The enjoyment of everyone in attendance was quite apparent, and the event continues to be a much-anticipated kickoff which starts the new school year in partnership, friendship, and celebration.
