Interscholastic Sports

Interscholastic Sports Athletic teams are organized to compete against other schools for interested and talented students.


ELIGIBILITY FOR EXTRACURRICULAR SPORTS PARTICIPATION

No student can try out or participate in any extra-curricular sport or activity without:

  • A current physical examination on file in the school nurse’s office.
  • Completing the Interscholastic Athletics Participation Requirements, Parent and Student and Proof of Health Insurance form.

These forms must be on file one week prior to any tryout date. No forms will be accepted on the day of the tryout.

BOYS BASKETBALL

6th Grade

Open to twenty boys according to ability. The team will play sixth grade squads from other schools in District 59, both home and away. The season extends from March through May. Students must have a physical card and proof of insurance on file in order to try-out. Practices three days per week, some from 3:10 until 4:10, others from 3:10 until 4:53.

7th – 8th Grade

Open to boys who make the teams according to ability. The program features games against teams from other schools and participation in selected tournaments. The season extends from November through January. Students must have a physical card and proof of insurance on file in order to try-out. Regular practices will be planned for after school each day according to a schedule distributed to players.


GIRLS BASKETBALL

6th Grade

Open to girls who make the team according to ability. The team will play sixth grade squads from other schools beginning in January and continuing through March. To maximize participation, there will be a “Blue Team” and a “White Team” with separate league schedules. Students must have a physical card and proof of insurance on file in order to try-out. Regular practices two or three days per week – some from 3:00 to 4:00, most from 3:00 to 5:00. A weekly schedule of practices and games will be distributed to players.

7th – 8th Grade

Open to girls who make the team according to ability. The teams will play squads from other schools and participate in a tournament. The season extends from September through October. Students must have a physical card and proof of insurance on file in order to try-out. Regular practices are planned most days after school according to schedules distributed to players.


BOYS VOLLEYBALL

7th – 8th Grade

Open to boys who make the team based on ability and attitude. The teams will play other schools during the season, which begins in March and runs through late May. Students must have a physical card and proof of insurance on file in order to try-out. A tournament will be held towards the end of May. Regular practices will be held on most days after school from 3-5. A schedule of games will be distributed to players.


GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM

7th – 8th Grade

Open to girls who make the team based on ability and attitude. The teams will play other schools during the season, which begins in January and runs through late March. Students must have a physical card and proof of insurance on file in order to try-out. Regular practices will be held on most days after school from 3-5. A schedule of games will be distributed to players.
